Should You Get A Bob Or Lob Haircut If You Have A Heart-Shaped Face?

Spring is in the air, and it is time to say goodbye to your beanies and hat hair with a new look. The classic bob is a popular haircut that has been around forever, and if you think the bob is a safe and boring haircut, think again because there are many variations of the bob, and you can find the right one to fit your face shape and hair texture. Celebs like Khloe Kardashian and Lauren Conrad made the bob super famous in the 2010s, and it doesn’t look like the trend is going away any time soon.

Stephen Thomas, a hairstylist at Oscar Blandi Salon in New York City, told Byrdie, “There are many variations on bobs, which are always in style and can look great on all face shapes.” According to Blonde Ambition Blog, bob hairstyles are chic and can work for any age and are no longer than chin or jaw-length with or without layers. There is nothing grandma-looking about this stylish and trendy short do.

On the other hand, the lob is a longer version of the bob where it ends between the chin and collar bone length. Both cuts are perfect for fine to thin hair as they make your hair look thicker, but the shape of your face can make or break the cut. And if your face is shaped like a heart, keep reading to find the right cut for you. Almost anyone can rock a lob, but very few shapes can confidently carry a bob, and a heart-shaped face is one of them. And, it is one of the hottest haircuts of 2022!

The bob is the perfect haircut for a heart-shaped face

Lauren Thompson, a hairstylist at Nunzio Saviano Salon in NYC, told Byrdie, “Heart-shaped faces tend to be wider through the cheeks and jaw, narrowing out through the chin,” and choosing a haircut based on your face shape is important to flatter your features. In the case of a heart-shaped face like Reese Witherspoon, you want a balanced cut like a bob to complement your cheekbones.

Chicago-based hairstylist, Alex Brown, also told the publication, “Adding fringe to a bob is a great way to soften and balance heart-shaped faces,” and added that adding bangs with broken ends can add softness to the widest part of the face. If you aren’t ready to commit to Zoey Deschanel style-bangs, Style Craze recommends soft side-swept bangs to balance the angles of the face. Heart-shaped faces are a mix of an oval and square because they are wider at the cheeks and longer at the chin, so Fit Fab Fun recommends choosing a chin-length bob because it can beautifully balance the broader and narrow parts of your face.

In terms of texture, when you chop your hair into a bob, it is best to keep your hair sleek or textured, but you don’t want to add too many curls as it will “poof” out, per Blonde Ambition Blog. If you’re going to maintain the length, it will require more upkeep. Otherwise, a bob is pretty easy to style with a straightener or curling iron.
